L: Uh yeah I do like you said, I love food, I love eating food, I love trying new food, um.
Yeah so I think what really made me want to write this program is a visit to Vietnam a couple years ago.
Um and uh just seeing all of the foods there that you could get on the street.
A: Just walking down the street, so we should explain I don't think it is necessary.
Because street food is uh it's found all around the world.
So why don't you explain to people if you haven't seen this or listen to this program? What do you mean by street food?
L: Right, because of course it's not like food you find on the street, right the name is a little bit weird.
Um but it's food that you would find maybe like at a food cart or somebody is walking down the street with food that they're making and then they're selling
um or somebody who has like a little a little stand and you can go visit that stand and sometimes they even have like little stools that you can eat at
um here where we are really popular is like a truck so you would have a food truck which has street food.
Um so basically any sort of food that you can walk down the street and buy at a cart or from a person and then eat as you continue walking along or take a little break.
A: Right, there are a lot of at least where we live in the united states there's a lot of regulations.
So it's not as common as other places in the world I think I, I from I haven't traveled maybe as much as you but I remember when I was in the country of Indonesia,
Shout out to all the people listening from Indonesia, um it felt like there were street food vendors everywhere
everybody was selling something whether it was a sweet dessert or meat on a stick
uh something there were there was just they were everywhere.
L: Yeah especially like in a city right where um you just you can't walk down the street in a city and not see a food vendor and i it's very similar uh to my experiences in vietnam
as well like you walk down the street and you can get any sort of food that you want like a big food like for lunch or just a little snack or um yeah all sorts of things
L: 네 저는 당신이 말한 것처럼, 음식을 정말 좋아하고, 먹는 것을 좋아하고, 새로운 음식 먹어보는 것을 좋아해요.
네 그래서 제가 이 프로그램을 쓰고 싶게 만든 것은 몇 년 전 베트남을 방문한 것이라고 생각해요.
그리고 그곳에서 길거리에서 먹을 수 있는 모든 음식을 봤어요.
A: 그냥 거리를 걷는 것은 설명할 필요가 없을 것 같아요. 왜냐하면 길거리 음식은 전 세계 어디에서나 볼 수 있으니까요.
그래서 이 프로그램을 못 봤거나 듣지 않은 사람들에게 설명해 주시면 어떨까요? Street food가 무슨 뜻인가요?
L: 맞아요, 거리에서 찾을 수 있는 음식 같은 건 아니니까요, 맞아요, 이름이 좀 이상하긴 해요.
음 하지만 볼 수 있는 음식은 아마도 음식 카트에 있는 것이거나 누군가가 음식을 들고 걸어가고 있는데 그 음식은 (거리에서) 만들어서 판 것이에요.
음 아니면 누군가가 작은 가판대에 있는데 그 가판대를 방문할 수 있고 때로는 먹을 수 있는 작은 의자도 있어요.
음 여기에는 정말 인기 있는 곳은 트럭 같은 곳인데 길거리 음식이 있는 푸드 트럭이 있을 거예요.
음 그래서 기본적으로 어떤 종류의 음식이든 거리를 걸으면서 카트에서나 어떤 사람에게서 사고 나서 계속 걷거나 잠시 쉬면서 먹을 수 있어요.
A: 네, 적어도 우리가 살고 있는 미국에는 많은 규제가 있어요.
그래서 세계에 다른 곳만큼 흔하지 않은 것 같아요. 저는 당신만큼 여행을 많이 하지는 않았는데 인도네시아에 갔을 때가 기억나요.
인도네시아에서 듣고 계신 모든 분들께 외쳐주세요, 음 길거리 음식 노점상들이 사방에 있는 것 같았어요.
다들 달콤한 디저트든 고기 꼬치든 뭔가를 팔고 있었어요. 뭐든 있었고 어디에나 있었어요.
L: 네 특히 도시에 가면 음 도시에서 길을 걷다보면 노점상을 못 볼 수가 없는데 베트남에서 경험했던 것과 아주 비슷해요.
길을 걷다 보면 어떤 종류의 음식이든 살 수 있어요. 당신이 원하는 점심식사 같은 큰 음식이나 그냥 작은 간식이나 온갖 종류의 음식을요.
